It’s important to know your market before you try to sell your car. As we are headed into winter, it might not be the time to sell the convertible. Trucks and other 4WD are hot sellers as soon as the first snow hits Denver. Be sure to check the going rate for your vehicle from private sellers. Dealers tend to have different prices. Private sellers are used to negotiating their prices, so you might want to aim slightly higher than your bottom line. Giving your car “Curb Appeal” is crucial to get the fair market value. Before you write that advertisement, make sure your car looks clean and attractive. If you can’t get it detailed, be sure to vacuum out any pet hair and crumbs. Clean all of the windows and mirrors. Consider any repairs that you can have done before you sell, you might even want to put it up for sale right after you have an oil change at Mancinelli’s. Be sure to have all of your maintenance records ready to show the potential buyers. Having a CarFax report before ... read more

As we enter the snowiest month for us in Denver, it’s good to remember these tips when driving your four-wheel drive vehicle. Four-wheel drive gives you more confidence for driving on the snow and helps get you moving but it doesn’t help you with extra traction for braking and steering. No car can stop on black ice, so it is always best to slow down when the temperature drops. It’s best to know your options. Four-high, for example, allows you to travel at normal speeds while driving on snow or ice, whereas four-low is designed for lower speeds, such as driving in deep, wet snow. Do you keep forgetting to switch into four-wheel drive? Setting your four-wheel drive to its automatic setting, if equipped, allows you to set it and forget it. If your vehicle can maintain traction with two-wheel drive, it will and can make the change quickly on its own. Driving on dry roads with four-wheel drive can damage your drivetrain and lead to costly repairs, so try to limit this ... read more

Are you choking your system? When was the last time you thought about your filters? Replacing your filters at the correct time can be invaluable to you and your car’s health. Clogged filters are responsible for a lot of unnecessary money spent at the pump and replacing your car’s parts. Fuel Filter Replacing your fuel filter allows the injectors to be protected from any debris that can clog or damage them. A new fuel filter has less restriction, keeping the fuel pump working with ease. Not replacing your fuel filter will eventually damage your fuel pump. Air Filter It is easy to see the impact of a clean air filter on your fuel economy. A clogged filter will result in your engine using more fuel and strain the engine. The air filter needs to have enough flowing air to create the power that we love in our cars. Cabin Air Filters Got allergies? Your cabin air filter stops dust and other contaminants from entering you and your passenger’s noses. The air ... read more

Over time, your headlights can yellow or cloud and impact the quality of light shining out. Maintaining your headlights improves visibility and safety of your vehicle. Even when your headlight is brand new, if your plastic lens is cloudy or scratched, it will impact the visibility. It is important to keep your headlight lenses clean. Dirt and debris prevents the full shine and damages the lens over time. You will need to determine whether the damage is inside or outside of your headlights. Headlight restoration has between a 50-100 percent increase in light output, so it is very effective! On a cold, rainy night, that means a huge difference in your visibility. There are three advantages of restoring your headlights: Improved visibility means a brighter light and a safer drive. Money saved in restoring existing equipment rather than buying new. The “like-new” look of a clear lens versus the existing cloudy or yellow hard-coating. Consider upgrading your head ... read more

Winter driving came early for us in Denver, but it’s not too late to winterize your car for the months ahead. Start with checking your battery, oil and coolant levels since they have different needs during the winter. There is nothing worse than a dead battery on a cold day. Replace your battery if it is more than three years old. Making sure all of your hoses and belts are secured is next. Test your brakes and inspect your brake pads to make sure that they are in working condition. Visibility becomes a big hazard during the winter. Be sure to replace your windshield wipers if they are over a year old. Carry extra windshield wiper fluid with you, the de-icer sprayed on the roads tend to stick to your windshield making it difficult to see. Making sure you have the right tire on your car is very important. Purchasing a set of snow tires reduces the wear on your performance tires and are much safer on the slick roads. Be sure that your tread and sidewalls are not worn. Pu ... read more
